An 18th Birthday Party Marquee

A marquee for an 18th birthday is an ideal way of having the party at home but not in the house.

A 20’ x 30’ marquee is an ideal size that can fit in pretty much any garden. It should allow enough room for plenty of dancing and for some seating and tables around the outside.

To protect your lawn and also your guest’s shoes, matting is stretched taut across the ground and secured avoiding trip hazards to create a carpet type effect. However sometimes this may not be suitable if the ground is dangerously uneven or if in winter where it can be permanently sodden. To combat these problems we would recommend a custom built wooden floor with carpet though this is considerably more expensive (A wooden floor with carpet cost approximately the same as the marquee itself and the matting). But ultimately the choice is down to you.

For this size marquee, uplighters would be spread around the outside and would on a dimmer so you can control the light levels. Chandeliers are a bit too overpowering and a bit to easy to swing from.

Heating is very important as no one ever likes being cold. The time of year will determine the number of heaters that you require; in winter you will need more heaters. For this size of marquee we recommend gas cabinet heaters as they are small, unobtrusive, quiet and easily adjustable. A little tip when the weather is cold is to put the heaters on an hour or two before people are due to arrive to get a comfortable ambient temperature from the start.

The parquet dance floor provides the ideal surface for people to dance on in the marquee.Trestle tables are provided which can go around the edge to put drinks and food on or could be used to set decks on if you have a DJ. Chairs are also provided for when people need a rest from dancing.

We haven’t included linings in this sample but they can easily be added if you so wish. If you want t make it feel even more special you could also add a twinkling nightsky effect roof lining. Another consideration if you’d ideally like to keep people out of the house is to hire in portable toilets.

A Christmas Party Marquee

If you are thinking of having a Christmas party, this is one example of a solution that could be for you.

A 30’ x 30’ marquee is the ideal size in that it is not too big in making it feel empty or not too small making it feel over crowded. It could either be a stand alone marquee, joined directly to a building or connected to a building using a walkway (walkway would cost extra).

To create that nightclub party feel the roof of the marquee will be lined with a twinkling nightsky effect roof lining with plain linings covering the walls. To add a bit of extra colour you can choose from our wide selection of pelmets and drops. Linings are also good in winter to add a bit of extra insulation from the cold.Due to the time of year, the adverse weather conditions and seriously effect the ground making it sodden and unsuitable for guests to walk on. We recommend a wooden floor with carpet instead of matting. It may be a more expensive but if the weather is really bad it may prove essential.

To compliment the nightsky effect ceiling we would recommend that uplighters are used spread around the edge to light up the marquee. If you plan on having a full on disco, extra lights can be added depending on what you require.

The black and white dance floor again brings that nightclub feel and provides the ideal surface for you and your guests to party the night away.

Although you won’t be serving a three course meal you may still want to serve nibbles and of course your guests will more than likely have drinks and so will need somewhere to place their drinks and plates while dancing. Adding some poseur tables and chairs provides this while maintaining the nightclub party theme. Trestle tables around the edge will also be effective and can be used as a bar to serve drinks to your guests.
